New Local Job Numbers Highlight Gov. Walker’s Ongoing Jobs Failure
Over half of metro areas see job loss while 40,000 job openings go unfilled in wake of historic education cuts
Madison—Mahlon (MAY’-lin) Mitchell, Democratic nominee for Lt. Gov., released the following statement regarding today’s local job loss numbers from Gov. Walker’s Department of Workforce Development:
“Today’s local job numbers from the Walker Administration highlight what Wisconsin families already know—Scott Walker and Rebecca Kleefisch are bad for our economy and detrimental to job growth in our state. Wisconsin needs a governor who will tell the truth, not spin job numbers in an attempt to score political points.
“The truth is that families in cities and small communities across Wisconsin are suffering under Gov. Walker and Lt. Gov. Kleefisch. With more than 40,000 unfilled job positions in Wisconsin—due in part to Scott Walker’s education cuts—we need leaders who will invest in our workforce, not take the Walker-Kleefisch approach of cutting public education and workforce training by more than a billion dollars. We need all hands working to bring our state back together, which is why Tom Barrett and I will invest in proven strategies to create jobs and support middle class families.“
